TALK IT OUT

Discuss these questions with someone—maybe a family member, friend, or member of your Connect Group. Use a communication method that works best for your situation.

START TALKING

Find a conversation starter.

  • Define the following: Storm, Peace, Unbelief
  • What does a storm look like in your life?
  • What are the warning signs a storm is heading your way?
  • Like in nature, do you have a safe place? Describe, please

START THINKING

Ask a question to get you/your group thinking.

  • In one of the stories of Jesus in a boat where there is a storm, who in the story are you, Explain
  • How have you experienced God in the storms of your life?
  • Where do you find your peace?
  • what part of your safe place does peace have?

START SHARING

Choose a question to create openness.

  • Have the storms in your life, increased your faith? Please explain
  • In the storm and afterwards, what have you learned about the authority you have?
  • which do you do, “tell God about your circumstances” or “Tell your circumstances about God”?
  • In the dark times of life, are you complaining about how dark it is or worshiping the God who created the world around you? Explain

START PRAYING

Be bold and pray with power.

Father,

Thank you that you never leave me nor forsake me, nor abandon me to my own devices. Reveal to me the methods you have used in the past to protected me and have kept me safe. Please show me how much I trust you for the events in my life, and your plans are to give me hope and a future.

Amen, and amen.

START DOING

Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  1. Pray for Shawn, Deanna, and family.
  2. Pick out a story in the bible, determine the crisis, how it was handled, and if you would do it the same way.
  3. Notice each day if you are trusting God or dealing with life on your own. Then journal and pray about what might need to be changed.
  4. (for those with time) take a circumstance in your life and do the following: A) describe it from your perspective. B) Describe it from the other person(s) perspective(s). C) Describe it from God’s perspective {this one may need prayer before answering.}
  5. Ask God to show you where you place your focus is and how much you trust him.
  • Pick one or two of those options and take steps to walk them out this week.
