Youth Pastor Position

Youth Pastor Position

OVERVIEW

The youth pastor is responsible for overseeing and facilitating all ministry to the youth of Destiny Foursquare Church — students in grades 6 to 12. The youth pastor is to be a committed follower of Christ with experience being led by Holy Spirit.

SALARY

This is currently a volunteer position.

  • We have an elder who is a coffee shop business owner and is willing to offer a full-time position to someone interested in serving in this role. Of course, this is for your consideration.

You would have 24/7 access to the Destiny facilities (as available) and personal office space if desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Be a student of the next generation and apply that knowledge to teaching and ministry strategies.

  • Who are the next generation? How do they think?
  • What societal and social media trends are affecting them?
  • Understand how students best learn.

Pastor and build relationships with students and parents/guardians at Destiny.

Attend and serve weekend services at Destiny.

Plan and execute weekly gatherings/worship times for students, engaging in worship, ministry, relationship, fun, and biblical teaching/conversation.

Be prepared to help bridge gaps between parents and students (technological, spiritual, emotional, etc). Make yourself available as a minister to families.

Challenge students and volunteers to step out of their comfort zones and embrace God’s calling on their lives.

Disciple students and volunteers in the ministries or work they feel called to.

Manage youth ministry administration tasks, including attendance, maintaining a healthy budget (fundraising, as needed), keeping volunteer background checks up to date, and processing student ministry data.

Develop a philosophy of fun in student ministry, creating an enjoyable and welcoming atmosphere for student ministry.

Facilitate and plan youth ministry events, outreach, and ministry opportunities. For example:

  • Retreats
  • Youth-led Services
  • Newbies’ Night (welcoming in incoming students)
  • Summer Activities
  • Holiday Parties
  • Fundraisers
  • Missions and Outreach Trips

Work closely with and support the children’s pastor, understanding that kidmin students will one day be in your youth ministry.

AS THE CHURCH GROWS

Our long-term goal is to make this a salaried position as funding becomes available. At that time, we would like to see these additional things established by those serving in the youth ministry department.

  • Keep regular office hours. Assist front office volunteers with phones and visitors to the church office as needed.
  • Plan regular communications for students, parents, and volunteers: group text service, social media posting and updates, video updates and highlights
  • Build, train, engage, and maintain a team of volunteers and student ministry interns.
  • Plan and direct summer camp as per the Foursquare District guidelines.
