
OVERVIEW
The youth pastor is responsible for overseeing and facilitating all ministry to the youth of Destiny Foursquare Church — students in grades 6 to 12. The youth pastor is to be a committed follower of Christ with experience being led by Holy Spirit.
SALARY
This is currently a volunteer position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Be a student of the next generation and apply that knowledge to teaching and ministry strategies.
- Who are the next generation? How do they think?
- What societal and social media trends are affecting them?
- Understand how students best learn.
Pastor and build relationships with students and parents/guardians at Destiny.
Attend and serve weekend services at Destiny.
Plan and execute weekly gatherings/worship times for students, engaging in worship, ministry, relationship, fun, and biblical teaching/conversation.
Be prepared to help bridge gaps between parents and students (technological, spiritual, emotional, etc). Make yourself available as a minister to families.
Challenge students and volunteers to step out of their comfort zones and embrace God’s calling on their lives.
Disciple students and volunteers in the ministries or work they feel called to.
Manage youth ministry administration tasks, including attendance, maintaining a healthy budget (fundraising, as needed), keeping volunteer background checks up to date, and processing student ministry data.
Develop a philosophy of fun in student ministry, creating an enjoyable and welcoming atmosphere for student ministry.
Facilitate and plan youth ministry events, outreach, and ministry opportunities. For example:
- Retreats
- Youth-led Services
- Newbies’ Night (welcoming in incoming students)
- Summer Activities
- Holiday Parties
- Fundraisers
- Missions and Outreach Trips
Work closely with and support the children’s pastor, understanding that kidmin students will one day be in your youth ministry.
REQUIREMENTS
A follower of Jesus Christ with a calling to serve the next generations, led by Holy Spirit.

Knowledgeable background in the Word of God, with the ability to speak and teach it with clarity to teenagers.
Ability to learn, grow, and improvise.
Works as a team player, desiring to see God’s best for the church staff and family, following the stewardship and vision of the church leadership.
Reliable, dependable, passionate, and committed.
HELPFUL SKILLS
- Worship ministry (instruments, vocals, leading)
- Technical/computer and software skills
- Sound ministry, media, or video experience
AS THE CHURCH GROWS
Our long-term goal is to make this a salaried position as funding becomes available. At that time, we would like to see these additional things established by those serving in the youth ministry department.
- Keep regular office hours. Assist front office volunteers with phones and visitors to the church office as needed.
- Plan regular communications for students, parents, and volunteers: group text service, social media posting and updates, video updates and highlights
- Build, train, engage, and maintain a team of volunteers and student ministry interns.
- Plan and direct summer camp as per the Foursquare District guidelines.
