POWERFUL PRAYERS, Part 1: Make Me bold

POWERFUL PRAYERS, Part 1: Make Me bold

We loved seeing everyone this weekend! Feel free to message us during the week if you have any questions. If you missed this week’s message, or want to hear it again, be sure to check out our SERMONS Page. Messages are generally posted each week by Tuesday afternoon.

Every week, it’s our goal to provide you with some questions to process the message deeper, either personally, or with a small group. Here are some questions for you to consider from this week’s message, “Make Me Bold”, part 1 of the POWERFUL PRAYERS series with Pastor Shawn M. Shoup.

KEY SCRIPTURES

  • Matthew 17:20
  • Acts 4
  • Acts 5:18-20
  • Ephesians 5:16

TALK IT OUT

Discuss these questions with someone—maybe a family member, friend, or member of your Connect Group. Use a communication method that works best for your situation.

Start talking

Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • Define what prayer is and what it looks like.
  • Why do you pray?
  • Why is prayer important?
  • Why might prayer be hard?

Start thinking

Ask a question to get your group thinking.

  • Do you need to pray more? Explain.
  • Is using bible verses important? Why?
  • What do bold prayers look or sound like?
  • If your heart were to pray, who would you be praying to? Explain.

Start sharinG

Choose a question to create openness.

  • Do you pray for God to reveal His power so you look good or to expand His reputation?
  • How do you gain boldness in prayer?
  • What or who prompts you to pray? Why?
  • When you pray, do you watch for the answer and then thank God for it?

Start praying

Be bold and pray with power.

Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit,

Teach me to pray with boldness with my eyes focused only on You. I’m so grateful that You desire a relationship more than a list of requirements and to have it perfect. I look forward to our adventures in prayer.

Amen and amen.

Start doing

Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  1. Pray Ephesians 3:10-21 or find other verses in the Bible to pray.
  2. Journal prayer request with the purpose of watching for the answer.
  3. Take note of when you pray or how you pray.
  4. Attend one of the prayer meetings in your church or community (Destiny prayer gatherings: Tuesdays at 12:00 pm, Thursdays at 4:30 pm, and Sundays at 9:00 am).
  5. Ask God to reveal how He sees prayer and how He would like you to pray for a given situation.
    • Thank God for His provision
    • Love God
    • Ask for the boldness He would have for you to pray.
  • Pick one or two of those options and take steps to walk them out this week.
