Yes He Can, Part 3: The Next Yes!

We loved seeing everyone this weekend! Feel free to message us during the week if you have any questions. If you missed this week’s message, or want to hear it again, be sure to check out our SERMONS Page. Messages are generally posted each week by Tuesday afternoon.

Every week, it’s our goal to provide you with some questions to process the message deeper, either personally, or with a small group. Here are some questions for you to consider from this week’s message, “The Best Yes”, part 2 of the YES HE CAN! message series, with Pastor Shawn M. Shoup.

KEY SCRIPTURES

  • Matthew 5:37 ESV, Psalm 27:13 NIV, James 1:8 ESV

TALK IT OUT

Discuss these questions with someone—maybe a family member, friend, or member of your Connect Group. Use a communication method that works best for your situation.

Start talking.

Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • What are some of your favorite Resurrection Sunday traditions?
  • What are some of your least favorite ones?

Start thinking.

Ask a question to get your group thinking.

  • Does the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) make you agree to things you probably shouldn’t agree to?
  • What forms of peer pressure – or other pressures – push you to say YES when you probably should say NO?

Start sharing.

Choose a question to create openness.

  • Have you ever stopped to consider how many decisions you make in a day consciously and subconsciously? Everything from which socks to wear to which road to take to work. What to eat for dinner and when to go to bed. How many decisions do you think you make in a day?
  • In all honesty (judging yourself fairly as described in Romans 12:3) do you feel that you are a good steward of your life through the decisions you make? Through all of your YES and NO’s?

Start praying.

Be bold and pray with power.

Jesus! I want to be a good steward of every moment You’ve given me. Holy Spirit, please guide me, teach me to listen and hear Your voice. Help me to follow Your ways and make good decisions – both large and small – that I may steward this life You’ve given me well. Amen.

Start doing.

Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • • Take some time and look at your weekly schedule. Chart it out if need be – and examine how you spend your time. Look at how much time is spent at work, with family, doing chores, traveling, partaking in entertainment, etc. Then ask Holy Spirit to speak to you about how you can become an even better steward of the time you’ve been given.
