ONE ANOTHER, Part 3: Going Deeper Questions

We loved seeing everyone this weekend! Feel free to message us during the week if you have any questions.

If you missed this week’s message, or want to hear it again, be sure to check out our SERMONS Page. Messages are generally posted each week by Tuesday afternoon.

Every week, it’s our goal to provide you with some questions to process the message deeper, either personally, or with a small group. One option: join us on Wednesday nights at the Destiny office building for the GOING DEEPER Connect Group.

Here are some questions for you to consider from this week’s message, “Kingdom First”, part 3 of the ONE ANOTHER message series, with Pastor Shawn M. Shoup.

KEY SCRIPTURE

Galatians 3:28, Luke 16:16 NIV

TALK IT OUT

Discuss these questions with someone—maybe a family member, friend, or member of your Connect Group. Use a communication method that works best for your situation.

Start talking.

Find a conversation starter for your group.

  • How do you feel about having difficult discussions about life and ways of life? Is it better to ‘leave well-enough alone’? Or is it better to get dirty?
  • Over the past 3 weeks, have you had any good political discussions as a result of this series/discussion?

Start thinking.

Ask a question to get your group thinking.

  • Share a time when you “shared someone’s burden”. (Galatians 6:2)
  • Share a time when someone “shared your burden”. (Galatians 6:2)

Start sharing.

Choose a question to create openness.

  • How do you feel when others unfollow or stop talking to you because they don’t agree with you politically? Have you ever experienced this online, or in life?
  • In what ways does understanding that the church – the Kingdom of God – is eternal, impact your political views?

Start praying.

Be bold and pray with power.

Jesus, please bind us together in Your love. Like a cord with 3 strands that cannot easily be broken, we recognize our need for You. AND our need for one another in our own lives. Help us to see the value in our brothers and sisters even when we don’t see eye-to-eye. Jesus, help us to love one another as You have loved us.

Amen.

Start doing.

Commit to a step and live it out this week.

  • Think: What values do I possess that people I don’t agree with politically might benefit from? What values do those I disagree with politically possess that I need in my life?
  • Plan: Take time to look at the way you interact with those you disagree with politically. How can you behave differently that allows you both to benefit from friendship and discussion, even when you don’t agree on everything?
  • Pray: Ask Holy Spirit to continue to guide you and lead you into positive relationships and positive encounters with people you don’t agree with politically.
  • Do: Keep your eyes open over the next few weeks. Be willing to be quick to listen, and slow to speak. Remember that the people you are interacting with are valued by God, and needed in your life.
